Inverell Art Gallery
In 1961 a group of local Inverell artists began meeting in a backyard shed to share their love of the arts. This artistic society formed the foundation of what is now the Inverell Art Gallery. This community gallery in the heart of the Inverell township, holds regular exhibitions exploring all artistic mediums and hosts both local and visiting artists. Focusing on the ethos of creating a ‘living gallery’ designed to foster a hub of activity, the gallery offers art classes and special interest workshops alongside a diverse range of regular exhibitions.
Each spring the Inverell Art Gallery holds an art prize, with the medium of focus this year being photography. Offering us all the opportunity to explore the different ways in which cameras and the people behind them perceive regional life and express an alternative experience. With a number of categories and some very impressive prize money on offer, you can be sure that this exhibition is one not to be missed. The exhibition opens on Saturday October 8th.
This delightful rural gallery has come a long way from its humble beginnings in the backyard shed and a visit to the Inverell Art Gallery is certainly worth a roadtrip to the New England.
