“This is the first farm I have ever lived on, I grew up in Ballarat so it’s taken a bit of getting used to. I’ve al- ways loved the city life but now 15 years on, I wouldn’t trade the freedom this much space brings our family. Farming is an extremely hard lifestyle but it has some of the most photogenic moments. Rural photography has been something I’ve always loved, the landscapes and the lighting on show is hard to beat. Between jug- gling life with young kids I try to capture all the beautiful moments it offers. Every year my husband grows a summer crop of sunflowers for seed and each year I’ve loved capturing the fields of yellow that grow. On a still summer’s night watching the sunset behind the blooms is something very special.”

Claira Whipp is a photographer based on her family’s farm near Timmering, VIC and we often see Claira’s three children starring in her work as they perfectly play the role as her ultimate muses. Claira’s work reflects the notion that true beauty exists in the little slow moments of our lives. It’s an absolute honour to have her work included in our photographic essay series.
