Dominic Xavier
Photography by Dominic Xavier
“Having grown up in QLD and having spent most of my travel periods overseas, it wasn’t until moving to Melbourne did I get the chance to experience the regional outposts of Victoria. What first struck me was the diversity that exists from the winding coastal roads to the snow capped high country. However it was perhaps the more banal scenes of central Victoria that caught my eye. There is an inherent beauty in the banal, and the smaller towns such as Trentham and Kyneton in which first appeared vapid and devoid of life, quickly transposed to nuance and charm.”
Dominic Xavier is a Melbourne based Photographer. His infatuation with natural light and the way it’s visual language can communicate a narrative, gives him the versatility to work across the fields of editorial, documentary, and fine art photography. It seemed fitting to include a body of work shot by Dominic in Regional Victoria, and to explore Dominic’s relationship with the regions that surround the city he calls home.
